A lovely lunch break with Easter Egg competitions and quizzes.
So far the team has raised £3,224.62 and our aim is to raise £5,000 by July.
Almost two million people in the UK are living with sight loss that has a significant impact on their daily lives. Of those, around 180,000 rarely leave their homes alone and lead lonely, isolated lives. Guide Dogs works for a world where people with sight loss are never left out of life, for a world where being blind or partially sighted is not what defines you. A world with enough support to make the challenges of sight loss no barrier to fulfilling hopes and dreams.
We all work for Sentinel Healthcare SouthWest CIC and we recently created a lunch time walking group called Sentinel Strider’s. This is where we use our half an hour break to keep fit and healthy by taking a brisk walk around the block and back instead of sitting at our work stations.
2018 – We are supporting Guide Dogs UK
https://www.guidedogs.org.uk We are concentrating on this Charity as one of our colleagues has two daughters which have both had hereditary eye problems. The youngest of which is now registered as blind, this is Heather who is now 29 years old and she lost her sight at the age of 6 years old. Luckily her sister Kimberley had an operation in time to save her sight. Heather now uses a Guide Dog called Susie and we were all impressed with all the work and commitment, and support both in time and financially from the Guide Dogs UK Further details will follow from how this has helped Heather within her everyday life.
