The Standard DBS Check is aimed at staff not working with alone with patients. E.G. administration staff or receptionist who do not chaperone.
The Enhanced DBS Check is aimed at all staff which will be dealing with patients during their time of employment.

The cost for an Enhanced Check is £59.00 and the cost for a Standard Check is £41.00. This can be paid by bacs or cheque payable to Sentinel Healthcare Southwest CIC.
As an organisation, we highly recommend the DBS start your application straight away after your recruitment process as these checks can take around 2 – 3 weeks from receipt of your forms if no issue is raised.
Once the application is complete the Certificate will go direct to the applicant and not the surgery so please ensure your applicant has correct address and informs you when they have received it.
There is also an option to register online with the DBS Update Service for £13.00 a year.
The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Update Service allows:
- applicants to keep their DBS certificates up to date
- employers to check a DBS certificate
The service is for standard and enhanced DBS checks only.
The registration must be completed within 28 days.
