Dermatology Team

DR James Boorer

Dr Boorer qualified from Bristol University in 2003 and initially pursued a surgical career, spending time in several major London hospitals and teaching at Oxford University. He moved to the South West in 2007 for higher surgical training.

Soon after, he met his wife — a GP trainee — who convinced him to change career direction, a decision he has never regretted.

Dr Boorer believes in truly listening to his patients, understanding their concerns and worries, and working with them to develop a shared diagnosis and management plan.

DR Rachael Carnell

Dr Carnell qualified from Southampton University in 2006 and began her medical career in Hampshire with Foundation training, before returning to the South West — where she grew up — to pursue a general surgical career. She spent 5–6 years working in the Torbay and Exeter areas.

She later transitioned into General Practice, a move she has thoroughly enjoyed. In recent years, she has expanded her career by gaining qualifications in Clinical Education and now enjoys teaching medical students. She values the variety and fulfilment of a combined career in minor operations, General Practice, and education.

Outside of work, Dr Carnell enjoys the outdoor lifestyle that the South West offers, spending time with her family and dogs.
